I realized I have been living in the middle of a very "city-like" hectic environment and that there was a need for one day of coming closer to nature, or as close as I could get considering the train lines around me.
I chose Metro North, destination: Cold Spring. The beauty of this train is that runs alongside the Hudson.
During the ride I had a glimpse, for just a split moment I saw the river for what it is, not just a "river" and all mental associations we have on the word to try to grasp and understand what a river is, but rather the true force of nature of this massive amount of water flowing down, fast, opening the way between NY and NJ, and later north between the two sides of NY, roaring down, and making little ducks happy to be alive on its shores. I guess I "felt" it, and it was beautiful. So was the village...
Ahhh... even just going down to someplace like South Street Seaport and getting close to the water can help a Piscean. But you live close to the water downtown right?
ReplyDeleteMaybe I'll go to Central Park this weekend...
Yes I live close to Battery Park, we usually take a walk in the evenings and I love watching the sunset by the water, thing is, it is very crowded... Cold Spring was really a much needed fresh air, I could hear my breath... I don't know, it was just lovely... :-)
ReplyDeletehmmm... even just imagining that makes me feel more peaceful!
ReplyDelete:-) I know what you mean, we pisces can go a long way on imagination!
ReplyDeleteYep. You've inspired me though. I'm going to try to swing through Central Park this weekend. It's not Cold Spring but still.
ReplyDeletebeautiful post Claudia...rivers are indeed powerful, especially in spring. The last time I was blessed with an up close view of the Hudson was from the grounds of Garrison Institute during a meditation retreat. I live in NH and my husband and I drove into Manchester to watch the Merrimack River running wild a few weeks ago...the sound of the water was deafening...quite amazing.
ReplyDeleteThank you Laura. I also just discovered your blog, and find it very inspiring, will keep reading it :-)
ReplyDeleteNothing like the Hudson River Line. Lived in Yonkers and used to go to Croton Park to get away from it all.
ReplyDeleteHi Art Trip, yes, the Hudson river line has some beautiful places, I actually took a closer look at Croton Park and it seemed pretty nice too. I am going again this weekend, really liked it :-)
