The Intermediate Series

Earlier I published:  9 things I liked about Ashtanga Yoga the Intermediate Series in the Elephant Journal.

I came accross the book while preparing to play secret santa with some yogi friends last week.

Browsing the shelves HB suggested Maehle's book as a present and while at the book store I could not put it down, then got home and wrote down everything I learned from it, and it turned out to be quite different than the first time I read it.

Amazing how our perspective can change in between two reads.

  1. This has been sitting on my bedside table for a few months and I haven't been in the mood to read it. I'm inspired now to start tonight.

In fact it was ur earlier post titled" 8 Things I liked about Gregor Maehle's "Ashtanga Yoga, The Intermediate Series" that motivated me to buy both his books .In fact I bought the book on Second series first as I was curious about the interest J.Krishnamurti had on Sanskrit that u had mentioned in your blog post . Both of Gregor Maehle's books are quite sufficient for any regular Ashtanga practitioner as far as the theory is concerned and they are quite in depth and will answer all possible questions regarding Ashtanga practice .I feel that in the absence of a teacher his books are the next best .Thanks for posting about it in your blog .

  6. krishna, yes I agree with you they are full-body, they address the practice from every angle, I like them too... interesting though as I wrote it and got it exposed to an audience again through the second read and this article with 9 things (which is very different from the first), I got also a few negative comments, of people who disagree in certain areas... I am looking into that as it might make for good conversation... thanks for visiting
