Yoga 2.0

Yoga 2.0: Shamanic Echoes is peculiar. It is self published, a thin book, open to the possibility of a sequel, coming from non-flashy-yogis, relying on word of mouth for distribution and a delight to read. It has very refreshing language, and takes a completely different angle from anything yoga related I have ever read.

I really do not want to say much because I would not want to spoil it (it is 79 pages long!), I tried writing this and that but in all honesty what I can write does not do justice to the book, but just to give you a taste when he goes over how when Prince Siddhartha (Buddha) becomes a "third wave shaman", the he has the (fantasized) response of the Vedic culture who is obviously not happy...

"...Who is this ingrate who refuses the gift of his child...?... Who is this numbskull, who has lost his taste for the pleasures of life? who is this idiot, who thinks he can gain moksha without fulfilling dharma? Who is this narcissistic shit, who soils the flower of his youth on the dungheap of asceticism? who is this disgusting pervert, who thinks that meditation is more honorable than pleasuring his supple wife...?... who is this imbecile, who thinks meditation can be its own subject?  The prince really got under their skins, it would seem"
Elephant Journal has an an in-depth review of the book.

Michael Stone says in the blurb at the back that it:
"...uncovers some of our hidden assumptions about yoga, scans them against traditional insights, and then redresses core yogic teachings in a modern language that is both philosophical and funny"

A keeper, and to share with friends!

Find, read excerpts and if you feel so inclined get a copy here, I really got a kick out of it and hope more of this writing keeps coming our way.
