March 2nd THE Day to Worship the Hindu God: Shiva

I first found out through an email from a website I visit sometimes. They tell me that:

"To worship Lord Shiva today is most auspicious and returns a thousand times whatever it is we pray for"

Then the Pondering Yogi just reminded me, as she posted on this today. Thank you Meredith!

And then also from the Vedic Yagya Center I see the importance and benefits of the prayers today:

"This day is observed with utmost devotion, gratitude and love for Lord Shiva who Drank the Haalaahal or Garalam [poison] that comes to destroy the creation.  He drank it and locked it in his throat.  On account of this Lord Shiva's throat became blue...


All over the world people who love Lord Shiva fast on this day and continuously chant Lord Shiva's name... Praying to Lord Shiva benefits the person with good health, longevity, wealth and prosperity."

This is what I pray to Shiva today:

Dear Lord Shiva,

May we understand and love one another
May Your wheels turn so that we can come out of our illusion of separatedness
May we strive to serve and surrender to Your will
May we come out of our delusions
May we take responsibility for our acts
May we put peace as our main priority
May our planet be healed
May we all be happy, blessed, prosperous
May the world be at peace - please!
May we leave the old behind and embrace the new
May we love ourselves and work hard at finding the divinity within

Om Namah Shivaya

It is said that praying to Shiva today returns 1000 times the benefits of doing so in other days.
