Ahh those Mysore stories: Kaz reconnecting with the depths of her back-bends via Sharath... Ahh
Grimmly asks a fantastic question: Is an assist a prop? It all started in the comments.
Bindy shows the other side of the coin refuting that silly Elephant article about how Ashtanga is hard and it ruins your pedicure (never did for me), which made it to 'popular' in record time. As per me I already wrote the 7 Reasons Why I think It Is NOT so Hard... back in April
Did you notice I did not link to the silly Elephant Article? You know why? I'll tell you, because there is actually a much better one, an interview done by Tanya (who did TT with me! Hi Tanya) where she talks to David Robson. The article is called: Guaranteed Transformation, if you want it! - Guaranteed indeed... if you want it indeed.
Should I get my own yoga mat if I am just starting? Good question Rose!
Deepak on the X-Box? The guy knows what he is doing. I loooove Deepak! I met him in person too, he interrupted my meditation once. For real! Second paragraph
Nobel writes a 3 paragraph post! What does it mean when a stranger says "see ya later"?

agree. astanga is available to anyone who wants it. i've never in my life had a pedicure (except in india where i can afford it) and all the complaining makes my stomach hurt. i would hate to teach that spoiled brat of a girl.
ReplyDeleteYes, and it can be done at a slow pace.... not to be totally self centered but take MEEEE for example (hee hee) I am recovering from illness so today I only did standing... It is a blessing to have found this practice... Nice to read you B
ReplyDeleteThank you for the mention as ever Claudia. think your link goes to the wrong post though the assist as prop thing was in the comments to the baby Desikachar post http://grimmly2007.blogspot.com/2011/10/yoga-of-yogi-when-legend-becomes-fact.html
ReplyDeleteRe that Elephant article, I only glanced at it a couple of days ago but wasn't she just being playful and practices and loves ashtanga herself...or did I miss something. Is Ashtanga hard? It's such a good question, it's unrelenting, but that driving you forward can be a good think, carries you along. The heat and sweat it generates makes the poses more doable... the very things that make it seem tough(ish) make it easier to practice. Have been so stiff this week, too stiff to do much in Vinyasa karma Style and yet am getting as deep as ever when practicing Primary.
Grimmly thanks for the link correction, oops! it should work now, very glad you pointed that out.
ReplyDeleteAs per the post, I don't know. When you get over 2500 people reading about something, some of them maybe being exposed to it for the first time, I am not sure... maybe you are right, I happen to think the exact opposite and the "funny" parts seemed a bit "silly" to me...
As per the practice that is great that you are getting deep into primary, great feeling that is, great presence!
Happy Sunday :-)
love your weekly wrap up - gives me the scoop on everything i missed this week as i wallowed in self pity after my comp died =D fabulous articles and its amazing to me how quick people judge a practice just because they are unfamiliar/uncomfortable with it. my approach is always to encourage students to try out any yoga form.. its up to the individual to make an opinion.
ReplyDeleteThanks Teeg, I feel for you and the computer!
ReplyDeleteI agree that everyone should choose what resonates with them, true dat!
