I think he's talking about books and charts from charlatans, in other places he's telling you to study his pictures carefully and follow the method he's laying out..... along with learning from a guru.

Third step is the asana. People who make sincere efforts to practice the first and second steps (limbs) as much as possible (Yamas and Niyamas), no matter what the conditions are will have the authority to go into the 3rd step that is “Asana.”
Yes that sounds like it could be, study carefully, yes that would be the big K. And yes, yamas niyamas first to have the "authority" interesting choice of wording.
