Tao 13

Ever since I discovered the book of the Tao I am enjoying it.

So much so in fact, that I have copied them all into Outlook messages which I then proceeded to set with "do not deliver before" options, so that I would keep on receiving them at surprising, and sometimes, magically synchronised moments.

As my life begins to unfold, and I let it happen (which is something I have not done since I am 13), lots of fears come up. The Thailand experience of becoming a yoga teacher suddenly brings up enormous insecurities and the inevitable "what ifs" that spring up from the depths of my colossal ego.

Tao 13 could not be more appropriate for the moment.

Success is as dangerous as failure.
Hope is as hollow as fear.

What does it mean that success is a dangerous as failure?
Whether you go up the ladder or down it,you position is shaky.

When you stand with your two feet on the ground,
you will always keep your balance.

What does it mean that hope is as hollow as fear?
Hope and fear are both phantoms that arise from thinking of the self.

When we don't see the self as self,what do we have to fear?
See the world as your self.

Have faith in the way things are. Love the world as your self;
then you can care for all things.
