A synchronistic event

I believe that the universe conspires to help...  a few posts ago I was talking about my confusion on what pranayama practice to do, and how I was inclined to stick to the prescription given to me in Thailand.

Well, this evening I was casually browsing through the Pradipika and guess what I found?, yeap, the pranayama prescription...

In the video, after the title you can see how they made me check which nostril was active upon awakening, before lunch, before dinner and before bed. Then at the bottom is the prescription. When I turn it around there is a chart of the characteristics of Vata (air) Pitta (fire) and Kapha (water)people (elements).

I think the fact that I found it is a MAJOR SIGN!

I took a video of it rather than a picture mostly because I cannot get over how much I prefer the flip to my digital camera.

  1. I am unfortunately only theoretically interested in pranayama. After Rolf roped me into a Saturday workshop in Goa, I practiced there exactly ONE more time. Now... I was only doing a morning Astanga practice and then basically loafing for nine weeks, so you know if I didn't do it there, I'm certainly not going to in the context of my far busier life in NYC. Let me know how YOU do with it though :)

  2. I totally understand, yes you are very VERY busy, i wonder if curiosity will get the best of you once you are settled in India and totally focused on the practice... I will of course let you know, i am excited about it. Today I practiced the two very easy practices of my prescription in the shala (Ujjai and the cooling one Shitali for 10 rounds each (1-1-2)), and it focused me and gave me a great savasana...

    We shall see...

  3. Keep updating!!

Maybe I'll meditate tonight. I want more acupuncture but I can't afford to indulge myself in that all the time.

At least I AM able to relax reliably in savasana. I know a lot of people have problems letting go. Not I...
