Namaste Motherfucker

Forgive my language, the anger brought about by the Lyme disease is making me enjoy cursing, but in this case it is not mine, that is actually the name of the 1-minute video, which, by the way, is hilarious:

Now here is the thing:

The Yoga Cop is "likable", he is funny and he has the punch line and we can slightly identify with him, you know? as in wanting to be self-righteous like that. He is the "know it all", the "pope of yoga"? Patanjali incarnated?

The second guy, even though presented as mean, has every right to his own privacy without being bullied, and he also follows his yoga by attending to cleanliness, but he is made to be the mean guy.

The video omits that we live in a real world with real people with sensibilities.

I am still thinking about it cause in my head there is no simple solution. Maybe both are right maybe both are wrong. Either way we all get a laugh in the course of the 60 or 68 seconds.

There are some interesting comments in my Facebook page too.  I found the video at Michael Gannon's Facebook page, thank you Michael.

One more thing, kudos for the actors, they are gooood!

What is your take? What do you think? Who is right and who is not? Or are they both?

By the way, Yoga is not necessarily Union, see this post on: Is it Union? Separation? or Both?

  1. Yoga means not giving a fuck about giving a fuck ... It's one big universal all encompassing 'not giving a fuck about' ... sucks in like a black hole, every reason for giving a fuck ... Yoga is one big 'fuck you' to 'fuck' itself.

  3. I prefer namasmotherfuckingte, which is a union of namaste and motherfucker, making them as one, as opposed to the more dualistic "namaste, motherfucker" in which they're separated.

  5. i don't know if i see this as funny so much as scary -

did like though, the line 'bout practicing yoga outside off the mat "in the rest of the world" - rather than "in the real world"

and did think the actors did i nicely nuanced satirical job

or was this hidden locker room camera reality show stuff? ;-)

  6. Adan, I hear you, scary stuff indeed, and things we deal with on a daily basis too... I think the video in the end is just a "provocateur" if you allow my pretending-French, it gets you thinking, at first it looks like one thing (cop is right) then you see maybe the other guy is not so wrong, then you realize, just like we all do, yoga is a moment by moment discrimination task, there are no easy answers...

    Hidden camera would be fun....

  7. In my mind the yoga cop guy comes off as the psycho. I mean - with all the germs floating around who wants someone else's sweaty shirt draped over theirs. It IS rude. And then to be all vigilante.

Course I know it's a joke but I'd vote in favor of the snippy bald guy.

  8. BTW I wish you a speedy recovery! I didn't know you had gotten Lyme :(

  9. hahaha, I am just trying to imagine if the bald guy give the other definition of yoga (that of Samadhi), what would the "yoga police" due? That basically ruins his entire argument. Yeah, for some reason I like the bald guy more than the "yoga police."

  10. Boodiba, thanks, and sorry it took so long to return the comment, I keep collapsing but slowly getting better. I am still thinking about this yoga cop thing, I think is brilliant cause it makes you think... and yes yoga cop, who is he to tell?

Chris, that, THAT would have been funny, I wanna see THAT video now, and see the reaction of yoga cop
