As a gesture of my gratitude I will mail a physical copy of the soft covered 21 Things to Know Before Starting an Ashtanga Yoga Practice to the first 32 people who comment and don't mind sending me by e-mail your physical address, that is so I can mail it, you understand.
It applies to anyone living within the United States.

Here are a few -abreviated- testimonials / e-mails about it:
Anyone thinking about starting an ashtanga yoga practice, curious about the practice... this is the book to read first! -E
She doesn't just throw information about the practice, she invites you in, she doesn't avoid the difficult questions, she often struggles with them too. Her book is a guide to pretty much everything surrounding the practice (and more beisdes) ... -G
You did a great job summing up the practice in a very real way. You didn't simplify Ashtanga, you just simplified the explanation of the important points. I look forward to finishing the book, it is truly fantastic and I will recommend it to everyone. - DS
IF you already have the book
I am grateful you read it and helped make it a success! Perhaps you know of someone who may benefit from a physical copy, maybe someone who is just getting started and is curious, yet a bit overwhelmed, or has questions and wants to read about it. Ooooorrrr, maybe you got the electronic copy but would like a physical soft-covered one, go ahead and ask!
I have gotten at over 200 e-mails from people telling me that it has helped them get more into the practice, increase curiosity, get on the mat, take a first castor oil bath, think about bandhas, dristis, breath, and even a few who are now practicing daily, as well as a few others who are planning a Mysore trip. This brings me enormous happiness. Welcome to all of you who are new to the path.
Why only the United States?
Because it is rather complicated to mail books to other countries so for now it is to the US territories.
Why 32?
32 Has been a rather important number this year and throughout the progress of the blog, I have written posts that have become very popular with the number like the 32 Unusual Ways to Love Yourself, the 32 Things to Know Before Starting Ashtanga Yoga OR 32 Things You Are Now ALLOWED to Do!
What To Do Now:
- Leave a comment - Even if you already got your electronic or physical copy, I love comments!
- Pass the post around to anyone you think may benefit from getting the book and ask them to comment and send the address
- OR... if you received the electronic copy and would like the paper back go ahead and ask!
- Email me your physical address [baticlau at gmail]
- Start the year 2012 thinking about Ashtanga Yoga!
- Enjoy the transformation

May we all be happy!

I'd love to get a copy of your new paperback on Ashtanga - I'm a daily yoga practitioner and part of my practice is Ashtanga (I'm also a Rocket fan and Budokon, occasionally Vinyasa, Power Yoga, etc.). I've never done Mysore, but I'd like to start, so that's primarily why the book would be helpful for me.
ReplyDeleteI don't qualify as I am in India. Nevertheless, I like what you say on your blog. Happy Blogging and wish great success for the book.

ReplyDeleteHello Claudia,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your writing and sharing. I have been practising Ashtanga Vinyasa for 3.5 years but around 4 weeks ago a light suddenly went on. When I think about practise I seriously feel like I have only been practising for 4 weeks, everything that came before was done in the dark. The difference is my psychological commitment to the practise.
Like many naturally unsupple men I have struggled mentally with practise. Bendy envy slowly gave way to an acceptance and appreciation for the positives I gain from practise and finally the (sad) realistion that the practise had represented a fitness regime for me.
So what happened 4 weeks ... I came across your writing. Your commitment is a shining light for me. Soaking up a quick hit of your enthusiasm for the practice makes sure I focus each time I am on the mat. I've even now thrown away the t-shirt during practice - yes, over 3 years of hiding behind a t-shirt! Your great Guruji quote often comes to mind ... "body is not stiff, mind is".
Both yourself and James are now top of my reader feed speed dial and so I wanted to say that you are both making a difference for people.
Funkykingston, thanks for your comment and great on the new insight! I am happy to be part of your inspiration together with James :-) and I appreciate your encouraging words
ReplyDeleteAhaha i forgot the mail : harrietphotographer@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the opportunity to read your wonderful blog! I have dabbled in yoga for years. For the past few years I've been quite ill and I'm just now beginning to heal. I would like Ashtanga Yoga to be a part of my life, but I can only manage 15 minutes every other day. Do you think it's possible for someone like me to grow into a regular practice? I like to think so! stephaniekalka@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteStephen, I would like to think so too, I had some doubts going in but with patience it came, I dont see why it would not be the case for you too :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Claudia, I would really enjoy a book if there's any left:) jayanaga6@yahoo.com Thank you:) btw practice was awesome today, I guess 2 days after the castor bath and not practicing at the but crack of dawn is the ticket:) Thank you for your inspiration.
ReplyDeleteMaking a comment. We have an ashtanga yoga teacher in the area. I'd like to know, what I need to know before I go and take her class. Thanks!!!
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU TO ALL THAT PARTICIPATED, ALL 32 BOOKS ARE BEING SHIPPED TODAY :-)
ReplyDeleteDid not get your copy? the e-version is now 99 cents and it is also in the library of amazon.com where you can borrow it for free!
